Donna Brandt is a shareholder at Stream Kim, specializing in business, construction, and real estate litigation. She represents clients across a range of commercial and business litigation matters in both state and federal courts, guiding them through all stages of the litigation process and addressing issues in diverse industries. Her cases primarily involve business and partnership disputes, unfair competition claims under the California Business & Professions Code, complex construction delay and payment claims, as well as land use and real estate disputes.

Donna collaborates closely with clients to understand their business needs and minimize the impacts of litigation. She aims to be a trusted counselor, ensuring clients’ best interests are protected throughout the litigation process. While she is skilled at early resolution strategies, Donna is also a dedicated advocate for her clients in the courtroom when cases proceed to trial.

She has comprehensive experience in California and federal trial procedures, including drafting and responding to complaints, conducting discovery, preparing and taking depositions of fact and expert witnesses, motion practice, trial preparation, and trial representation. Additionally, Donna has fully briefed appellate issues for the California Court of Appeal.

Donna earned her law degree from University of Southern California, Gould School of Law. Prior to law school, she graduated from University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and philosophy. Donna is currently a member of the legal committee for the Southern California Contractors’ Association where she provides legal guidance and resources to member contractors, including articles regarding relevant legal issues facing the construction industry. She is also an active member of the Riverside County Bar Association.

  • Represented developers in an easement dispute, securing summary judgment and a permanent injunction against a $40 million multi-family dwelling development that interfered with developers’ easement.
  • Represented business owners in a trademark infringement and trade secret misappropriation case involving former employees forming competing businesses.
  • Secured dismissal and favorable appeal for a waste hauler defendant in an anti-competition case seeking disgorgement of profits and an injunction based on unfair business practices.
  • Obtained a favorable judgment for a major Southern California commercial general contractor in a breach of contract dispute with subcontractors in cases that stemmed from complex construction litigation where the public project owner wrongfully withheld retention and rejected change orders.
  • Achieved a favorable outcome for an HVAC subcontractor in a complex construction defect arbitration and related civil case with damages exceeding $2 million.
  • Represented a corporation and successfully removed a board member who had formed a competing business and misused the client’s resources.
  • Secured a favorable trial settlement for a commercial landlord seeking backpay of percentage rent and fees from a restaurant tenant.
